ROLE CALL for the role of

Cyrano

in GCP’s upcoming production of

Cyrano de Bergerac

at 2nd Space Theatre

AUDITION DATE | December 6, 2025

SCHEDULED TO PERFORM | February 27 - April 19, 2026

SHOW SYNOPSIS A play about a talented but insecure poet and swordsman, Cyrano, who is secretly in love with his beautiful cousin, Roxane. She, however, falls for the handsome but inarticulate Christian. Cyrano, despite his feelings, helps Christian woo Roxane by providing him with eloquent letters and speeches.

DESCRIPTION OF CYRANO DE BERGERAC (pronounced see-rah-NOH duh bair-zhuh-RAK) A poet, swordsman, scientist, playwright, musician, and member of the Cadets of Gascoyne, a company of guards from Southern France. For all his prodigious talents, Cyrano is unattractive, cursed with a ridiculously long nose that makes him insecure and keeps him from revealing his love for his cousin Roxane.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE Complexity of character - A skilled actor is needed to play Cyrano convincingly - someone who is eloquent, witty, possesses an outward bravado, and yet portrays someone vulnerable and insecure when it comes to his physical appearance.

OTHER CHALLENGES The actor portraying Cyrano will need to be physically adept to handle stage combat since this character is a skilled swordsman. Also, this role demands exceptional verbal skills in order to deliver long, intricate and witty speeches written in verse.
