Tracie Anes’ first show with Good Company Players was Sister Act in 2022, and below are some of her takeaways from her first experience working with our company.

Team Meeting

You’ll be asked to sign paperwork that must be signed and returned prior to leaving the intro meeting or at your first rehearsal, complete this.

You will receive your sheet music/script. Hole punch this and put it in a binder or have it spiral bound at FedEx Kinko’s or OfficeMax ($5 - $7) prior to the first day of rehearsal.

First Day of Rehearsal

You will be expected to sign in on the first day and every day after; rehearsal and show. Don’t forget to sign in.

You may notice some regular cast members wearing dance shoes. You are not required to purchase these if you don’t have them. They will be provided by the costume shop.

Costume Fitting

This takes place roughly around the third week of rehearsals between 8am – 5pm. Make sure you account for this in your schedule. It’s quick but does require time outside of rehearsals.

This is when you can try on/ask for dance shoes.

Ask if you will be wearing any wigs. If so, wig caps are highly recommended. These are extremely cost effective from Amazon (30 pack for $7).

Strike

Sunday before show starts you’ll be asked to give 2 hours or less. This is the intro to the start of your show. Take it in.

Tech Week

Tech week is the three days prior to opening night. It’s late and will likely go over the scheduled time frame. Be mentally and physically prepared for this, and remember it’s short-term. The show will be great!

This is full dress. Pack your prep bag and treat it like show. Makeup, deodorant, water, etc.

Tuesday of Tech Week is picture day.

Show Credit

You can receive gift certificates for loved ones coming to see you. To get credit make sure they say they’re coming to see you when they make their reservation.

Cast Party

This traditionally takes place on Closing Night/Day following strike. If you’d like to attend make note in your calendar.

This is when the crew watches the recording of the show.

Additional Takeaways

If you have tattoos you will be asked to cover them. Bandaids are the most helpful, however you can sweat them off. A tight skin covering would be the next recommendation. Makeup would be the last source as it can rub off and is expensive.

You don’t realize how much you’ll feed off of the audience’s energy. Embrace it.

This is an experience. Take it all in!
